Hello! 2016 is here. Christmas came and went. I’ve had a wonderful month and I’ve sewed tons of things over Christmas break that I can’t wait to share with you. But today, I’m going to show you what I got for Christmas that is craft related, since there’s so much to show you, I can’t show you everything!
First up–Cutting mat, rotary cutter, and measure-thingy. I actually didn’t ask for this, but I’m glad that I got it, since I want to venture into quilting. The cutting mat is really nice–I’ve used it a couple times–for perfect measurements. I normally eyeball it when cutting fabric, but it’s nice to have good cuts for a change!
Next is my sewing case. It’s really roomy and study, so that I won’t be bonking my sewing machine all over the place when I travel.
Remember my clay pumpkins? I dug into this clay and made stuff before I could take the pictures! Sculpey is my favorite brand of clay, so this will get lots of use.
Sewing pajamas! I don’t really have a nice pair of pajamas, so I was very excited to get these! The fabric is so slippery and soft…these are my new favorite pajamas!
These prismacolor markers are similar to my copics. I love art, so the main thing on my list was high quality markers. I’ve already tried them out and I think I’ve found a favorite brand!
This pillow form might be featured in the next post. I’ve used so much of this stuffing already to make pillows, which will all be in the next post.
Lastly, the grand finale…10 YARDS OF FABRIC!! And it’s all flannel, my favorite.
Can we just zoom into a close up of the lovely fabric? Do you see those hedgehogs?
When I got the fabric I was in shock because I have no idea what to do with all of it! What do you think I should do? Comment down below and let me know.
Of course, this is not all I got for Christmas. I got the usual: Movies, books, tons of clothes, adult coloring books, etc. This is just some of it. Before I leave you, here are some highlights of my Christmas!
Jen, this was me drinking the hot chocolate you gave me in the stichingsanta package. It’s so good!
I know this picture is blurry, and someone (*cough cough*) has their eyes closed, but who do you think this little cutie is? No, really, guess! If you’ve followed my blog for a while I bet you can guess!
I know I always say this, but I’m not trying to brag about what I got. I’m very blessed.
Until the next post! I hope all of you had an amazing Christmas. Happy New Year!
Lovely haul! I’ve wanted a cutting mat and rotary cutter for some time, you lucky girl! Is that Marck in the last photo?

Lucky girl! If you want to make a start with patchwork, you could do worse than use the flannel to make a rag quilt. Now you have a rotary cutter and mat you’ll probably find you won’t be able to do without them. I originally (back in the mists of time) bought mine for patchwork but I also cut out clothing patterns using a rotary cutter – although you do need quite a large cutting mat for that.

I love that white & black fabric with the ladies on it! If you have enough, make a skirt! If not, make a large cosmetic case for toiletries and such when traveling!

There’s actually a lot to do with flannel, if you add interfacing (which I only do sometimes). I love making soft throw pillow coves and throw pillows out of it, but mostly flannel is known for pajamas. Some of the fabric that my parents got me is actually a flannel/cotton blend, so it’s more sturdy.

You lucky thing! I did get a wool winder that I asked for but the only other crafty gifts were from my stitching Santa parcels!

You got some lovely sewing gifts for Christmas! My rotary cutter, cutting mat and quilting square are used every time I sew so they are great things to have on hand! I love the pjs – may I ask if you know where they are from? I would love a pair! Can’t wait to see what you make with all that flannel 😀

Actually, my mom said she got them from Target in the pajama section. If I’m right they’re made by Nick and Nora. Good luck finding them! 😀

I made my first quilt for Nana for Christmas. It was a fleece backed quilt so no batting was necessary making it was one step easier than a normal quilt. I machine quilted it because I don’t have the time or patience to hand quilt. My cutting mat is only 12 X 18 so I’m a bit jealous of your BIG one.
I like making baby gifts with flannel…I mean, if you know anyone who’s having a baby (wink, wink…j/k). I’m making a swaddling blanket for a friend of mine with some cute train flannel. I also like making PJ’s with flannel. I made Carynn a flannel nightshirt for Christmas and have a plan/pattern for some PJ pants for the boys but, now that Christmas vacation is over, time is not on my side…Happy sewing! ❤ Aunt Carissa

Once I find out the gender of a certain baby (wink wink) maybe I’ll make a quilt for it! I would probably machine quilt a quilt…if I was making a quilt…which I’m not. 🙂 I can’t wait to see Nana’s blanket, maybe she’ll show it to me sometime!
