April Wrap-Up & Favorites

Well, well, well, look at that! April has come and gone. It’s been a great month! It’s been super sunny, flowers are blooming, and our grass is finally green. I only have a few more weeks before school ends, and then it’s summertime!

Anyway, enough chit-chat, let’s get into my favorites from this month!

IMG_1396.jpgIMG_1403.jpg

My first favorite from this month is the E.L.F. concealor in the shade Ivory. The color is the perfect shade for my skin, and this concealor has really done a great job of making my face look vibrant and brighter. Plus, it’s only a couple bucks.

I ran out of my Maybelline Great Lash mascara in the beginning of April, so I bought the Great Lash “Blackest Black” mascara. It’s much darker than the regular Great Lash mascara, and I honestly like it more than the original.

I think what makes this version better is the mascara wand. I’m not sure if it’s the same wand as the original, but nonetheless, it does a better job of separating my lashes.

Plant Therapy recently released this oil, the Pink Grapefruit essential oil. This is my new favorite essential oil, and I’ve only been using it for a week! It smells so good, and I can’t stop sniffing it even though I’m not a big fan of citrus scents! But this oil has such a fresh, vibrant smell, plus it works wonders on my blemishes. More on that later, so stay tuned!

I have been obsessed with my new Nikes this month. They’re so comfortable, and they make working out more fun! Whenever I wear cute workout gear, I’m more likely to have a fun workout than when I throw on an old t-shirt and leggings.

Lastly, I’ve been loving flowers this month! They’re popping up everywhere, and just seeing them makes me feel more positive and happy. Buh bye, winter.

Thank you for reading! I hope you have a great day.

How was your April? What are some highlights from this month?

Why I Workout

Hello, and happy Monday! How are you? I’ve been a bit behind on posting, but no worries, I have some awesome content coming your way, so stay tuned. Let’s get into the post!

Well, it’s that time of year, when people are flocking to their gym, treadmill, or yoga mat, to get ready for summer, to get the glorious bikini body that everyone seems to want! Recipes on eating healthier and getting smaller are popping up online, swimsuits are showing up in stores, and people are working out harder, faster, and longer.

But around this time of year, I always find myself wondering why? Why are there so many workout videos on Youtube on how to get the perfect bikini body? And what is the perfect bikini body, anyway?

IMG_1105.jpg

For me, this season isn’t about getting ready for summer. Track & Field started a couple weeks ago for me, and I’ve spent this month sweating and working out every day! Track is really fun, but it’s also extremely hard and competitive. You need to give everything you have, and make sure you’re giving 110% so you’ll do well at meets.

What I’ve always loved about track is that it’s about YOU. If I lose in a race at a track meet, I can’t blame it on the team or the coach, because if I lose, I’m responsible. Yes, I’m on a team, and yes, we support each other! But in the end, it comes down to how hard you work and how fast you are.

I’ve learned to love this mindset, and I wish that anyone that struggles with confidence of their appearance would adopt this mindset as well. There is no “perfect” body, and there is no perfect way to workout. Humans are made to move. Slow or fast, we were made to workout and take care of our bodies and be healthy. And I think that’s more important than focusing on trimming your body down so it looks good in a bikini.

IMG_0679.jpg

Even if I didn’t do track, I would still run and workout. Some days I’m exhausted, some days it’s really hard for me to keep running or keep working out, and sometimes my muscles are trembling. But I forget to work out early in the day, I’ll work out in the night. Even if it’s 9:00 and all I want to do is relax, I’ll roll out my mat, start a timer, and workout.

Why? Because I love it. Honestly, I do. I love the feel of sweat rolling down my back and my muscles straining. I love the feeling of satisfaction when I beat boys in arm wrestling or racing. I love proving people wrong, I love showing people that girls are strong. I workout so when someone asks for “a few strong boys to help”, I can jump up and help also.

I’m not dissing anyone that works out because they want to look good for summer. In fact, there’s nothing wrong with that. But make sure you’re working out to look good for yourself. Work out because you want to be proud of your hard work.

This was a short post, but it’s something that I have been wanting to post about for a while. Thank you so much for reading, and I hope I haven’t offended anybody, because that was not my intention. If you’re reading this, just remember that you are a beautiful, amazing person. It’s what’s on the inside that counts.

Why do you work out?

Morning Routine + Abs Workout

Happy International Women’s Day! How are you? (I’m pretty good, thanks for asking!)

My morning routine was requested by a few people in my evening routine post, so without further ado, let’s jump right in.

Morning #3.jpg

It always depends on the day, but I usually wake up around 7:00 to 7:15. On some days, I have to get up at 6:00, and on weekends I sleep in until 8:00 or 9:00.

Unknown.jpeg

After making my bed, the first thing I do is workout. I usually go for a HIIT run on my treadmill, but if I don’t have time, I’ll do a quick workout on my abs. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with my abs, and I made a quick workout that I do every day. It may look easy, but trust me, your heart will be pounding by the end. Be sure to try it out and let me know how it goes for you!

Morning #2.jpg

When I’m done with working out, I eat breakfast. I usually have either toast, fruit, or cereal. Sometimes all three, if I’m really hungry. 😉 Breakfast is the foundation of your day, so it’s important to eat something healthy and filling.

Morning #1.jpg

I try to fit this in every morning. I write down a to-do list in my planner and check my email & WordPress. This is the calm part of my morning where I can plan for the day and jot down some post ideas.

Morning #4.jpg

After showering, brushing my teeth, doing my hair, and getting dressed, I put on some makeup. Most days, I just wear mascara and blush to feel put together. When I’m going out in public, I’ll put on a layer of Erase Paste to hide my blemishes, but heavy makeup like foundation and eyeshadow is reserved for special days. But since I don’t really need makeup, I don’t wear a lot. (Or own a lot, for that matter.)

One more thing before you go–my blog has over 800 followers now! Gosh, that’s pretty cool. Thank you so much!

If you would like to share your morning routine or if you have a morning routine post on your blog, let me know! I hope you have a great rest of the day. Thank you for stopping by.

15 Minute Workout + My Fitness Routine

Heyo, it’s Monday. And you know what that means–a new week, a fresh start, another new beginning before the next Monday and we start all over again.

I love working out. I hate it, too. There’s nothing better (and nothing worse) than sweat trickling down your neck and back, music blaring in your ears, breathing heavily…it’s exhausting. But it feels amazing when you finish! So, in today’s post, I’m going to be showing (technically, telling) you a quick workout that you can do & my fitness routine!

IMG_9636.jpg Here’s my schedule:

  • Monday: HIIT Run & Cardio
  • Tuesday: Skip (I’m gone all day Tuesday)
  • Wednesday: Run
  • Thursday: Run
  • Friday: Run or Walk (It depends on the day.)
  • Saturday: Yoga & Stretch
  • Sunday: Yoga

I’ve talked about Yoga With Adriene a lot (I swear, I should be Adriene’s spokesperson), but have you ever checked out Blogilates? Blogilates is a Youtube channel filled with fun, quick work-out videos. The amazing woman behind the channel, Cassey Ho, has such a fun personality. I try to do a few of her videos each week along with running and yoga.

IMG_9630 (7).jpg

Why do I workout? Because I love moving, I love the feeling of achievement and pride that I get when I take care of myself and run. Running makes me happy, working out lifts my spirits, it just feels good. By the way, if you workout, I would love to know why you do it. Let me know in the comments!

I have a workout that I usually do on my treadmill, but it can be done while running outdoors as well. I made a ‘lil graphic to show you!

Workout.jpg

I wish I could do a full hour run without stopping–I’m getting there! Slowly, very slowly, but surely. Since I don’t have a lot of time (usually about fifteen to twenty minutes), I do a few sets of quick sprinting and jogging to get my heart rate up. If I have more time, I’ll do a longer walk at the end to cool down my body–and, of course, I always make time for stretching.

I hope you enjoyed this. I have tons of motivational quotes on my Pinterest board if you feel like taking a peek. I would love to hear how you workout, feel free to share that if you’d like to. Thank you for reading!

31 Days Of Yoga // My Thoughts + Results

03701b168299343919f5a2519a3e5f48

I’ve been doing yoga for almost two years now, and I love it more every day of practice. My first yoga video was from the Youtube channel Yoga with Adriene, and I’ve been doing it ever since. Recently Adriene did a yoga “revolution”, a.k.a. 31 days of yoga for the month of January. It ended on Tuesday, and in today’s post I’m going to be sharing my thoughts!

f9fe3427c5b296ed9e51d6576351952f

How I Feel Mentally

Amazing! After doing yoga every day, I found that my head was clearer, my thoughts were less scattered, and I was calmer and not stressed. Many people mistake yoga for being a physical practice, but don’t realize that it’s more of a mental practice. Yoga has taught me to love myself, to be confident, and to keep my head up high through the bad & good.

How I Feel Physically

My arm muscles are definitely looking bigger. 😉 I can also do more push-ups and have more core strength than before! My muscles were sore the first few days, but eventually my body adjusted and felt amazing after each practice. Along with being stronger, I’m way more flexible!

Why I Do Yoga

I do yoga to be the best Abigail that I can possibly be. Yoga helps me to think positively, it connects my mind to my body, and allows me to let go of negative thoughts and move on. I’m still not perfect at downward dog, I fall when doing tree pose, but none of that matters. What matters is that I show up and do my best.

Day 16 was my favorite practice by far, and I keep going back to it to stretch and get in a nice workout! Here’s the video if you’d like to give it a try.

Even though the revolution is over, you can do it! Be sure to check out Adriene’s channel, she has so many yoga videos. If you did the revolution, I would love to hear what you think about it/your results! Thank you for reading. 🙂
