Spring Photography + Photoshoot

Hello, Happy Monday! Wasn’t the weather fantastic yesterday?

Yesterday, I went outside and took some pictures, and my amazing mother & I did a bit of a photoshoot. I put a lot of fun effects on the photos, and I’m really excited to share them with you!

If you’re reading this in the WordPress Reader, go to my website, the photos will be larger and have higher quality!

IMG_0535.jpg

This picture is one of my favorites! We took it right by the pond. It was one of those photos that I wasn’t expecting to turn out well, but it did. IMG_0565.jpgIMG_0494.jpgIMG_0480.jpg

Look at this fresh moss! The snow is finally gone, folks. Cue the rainy weather and mud, and then we’ll finally get some buds and new growth.

IMG_0481.jpgIMG_0483.jpgIMG_0577.jpgIMG_0473.jpgIMG_0520 (1).jpg

Please ignore my crazy hiking boots, haha! This picture was a fun one to take. It involved climbing through a ton of branches to get to the thick branch on this tree. The things I do for you guys…;) I was so afraid that I was going to fall into the water, but luckily, I didn’t.

IMG_0492(1).jpg

This black and white photo of me is the grand finale–it’s my absolute favorite picture of the ones we took! Am I smirking, am I smiling, am I frowning–nobody knows. My expression is weird. But I love it!

As always, thank you for reading! Which photo is your favorite? Is Spring arriving where you live? Have a fantastic Monday, and stay tuned for Wednesday, I have a fun post to share with you.

I’m Learning To Let Go

Hello, and welcome back!

As you know, I post a variety of different things on my blog, so today’s post is going to be a bit of a short personal post. Get comfy and grab a snack, and we’ll jump right in! IMG_0429.jpg

The picture I’m holding up is from 2015, when I was 11.

The title of this post is “I’m Learning To Let Go”. What am I learning to let go of, you ask? Little things.

I’ve been known as a worrywart my whole life. I always need to know the little details. For example, if my family is going somewhere, I always need to know where we’re going, what we’re doing, and when we’re doing it. If I don’t have those details, and the future is unclear, I ask a lot of questions, and I won’t be able to have fun when we go there.

IMG_0372.jpg

And when things aren’t close to perfect, I worry. If the curtains aren’t arranged nicely, the chair isn’t pushed in all the way, and the comforter isn’t smoothed out, I can’t relax. All I can think of is the messy comforter, and it nags in my brain until I have to get up and smooth it out.

It’s hard, it’s so hard, but I’m learning to let go. I’m learning to move on. Life isn’t perfect, and it never will be, so I can’t keep focusing on the little things. I’m learning to focus on the big picture. You only live once, and if you spend your whole life focusing on small, tiny, unimportant things, are you really living?IMG_0374.jpg

As Ernest Hemingway says, “If something is wrong, fix it. But train yourself not to worry, worry fixes nothing.” If you’re a worrywart and you know how I feel, I hope you’ll learn to let go with me. When you find yourself worrying about something, ask yourself this: is this going to matter in a year?

A great way to relieve yourself of worrying and questions is to write down everything you’re afraid about, get it out of your brain, and let go of it. Throw it away. Let go of any negative thoughts that aren’t helping. Also, know when it’s proper to worry. I’ve learned that it’s okay to be nervous about something. But you should push the fear out of your brain and keep living.

Thank you for reading! This is something hard to share, but something I wanted to share with all of you. If you’re like me, and relate to this, leave me a comment and we’ll chat down below. I hope you all have a fantastic, worry-free day.

Morning Routine + Abs Workout

Happy International Women’s Day! How are you? (I’m pretty good, thanks for asking!)

My morning routine was requested by a few people in my evening routine post, so without further ado, let’s jump right in.

Morning #3.jpg

It always depends on the day, but I usually wake up around 7:00 to 7:15. On some days, I have to get up at 6:00, and on weekends I sleep in until 8:00 or 9:00.

Unknown.jpeg

After making my bed, the first thing I do is workout. I usually go for a HIIT run on my treadmill, but if I don’t have time, I’ll do a quick workout on my abs. Lately, I’ve been obsessed with my abs, and I made a quick workout that I do every day. It may look easy, but trust me, your heart will be pounding by the end. Be sure to try it out and let me know how it goes for you!

Morning #2.jpg

When I’m done with working out, I eat breakfast. I usually have either toast, fruit, or cereal. Sometimes all three, if I’m really hungry. 😉 Breakfast is the foundation of your day, so it’s important to eat something healthy and filling.

Morning #1.jpg

I try to fit this in every morning. I write down a to-do list in my planner and check my email & WordPress. This is the calm part of my morning where I can plan for the day and jot down some post ideas.

Morning #4.jpg

After showering, brushing my teeth, doing my hair, and getting dressed, I put on some makeup. Most days, I just wear mascara and blush to feel put together. When I’m going out in public, I’ll put on a layer of Erase Paste to hide my blemishes, but heavy makeup like foundation and eyeshadow is reserved for special days. But since I don’t really need makeup, I don’t wear a lot. (Or own a lot, for that matter.)

One more thing before you go–my blog has over 800 followers now! Gosh, that’s pretty cool. Thank you so much!

If you would like to share your morning routine or if you have a morning routine post on your blog, let me know! I hope you have a great rest of the day. Thank you for stopping by.

My Aesthetic

Hello, welcome back to another post!

I found out recently that there was an aesthetic tag going around WordPress…I actually had no idea that it existed. Even though I haven’t been nominated for the tag, I’ve wanted to do a post on my aesthetic ever since I got Pinterest. Pinterest is a great way to find pictures that you find aesthetically pleasing. So, in today’s short post, I’ll be sharing my aesthetic with you!

My Aesthetic.jpg

Photos via Pinterest

I love the colors gray, black, creamy white, and gold with the occasional pop of color. I really like clean, minimal photos taken from above (flat-lays). The main thing on my aesthetic board is pictures of cozy sweaters, cozy pillows, cozy blankets, a cup of coffee…I love anything cozy and warm. unnamed.jpg

Books, forests, flowers, cozy blankets…photos of those things are so aesthetically pleasing to me. I also really like things arranged in threes…I have no clue why, it just makes me feel happy. Texture appeals to me as well, but only when it’s used sparingly.

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

My aesthetic is probably so clean and modern because I’m constantly thinking and analyzing things in my head, so it’s too stressful to be surrounded by patterns and bright colors. To be able to mellow down and relax, I need low colors and minimal textures.

This post was pretty short, but it was fun to write! If you’d like to get a better idea of my aesthetic, here’s my Pinterest board. How would you describe your aesthetic? Have a fantastic day, and I’ll catch you on the flip side!

My Evening Routine

Hey, welcome back to another post! This is a common post idea for bloggers, and although I prefer coming up with my own content, I really wanted to do this. I have a long evening routine, so I thought I would share it with you. Let’s get right into it!

I usually start my evenings with stretching and yoga, which is the best feeling after a long day. If I didn’t workout earlier in the day, I’ll squeeze in a quick run or some cardio (if I feel like it).

Desktop #4.JPG

When I’m done with yoga, I wash my face with the Calia facial cleanser. I’ve done a review on this and other Calia products; here’s the link. This cleanser has high quality ingredients and works well to remove makeup and sweat.

Evening Routine #3.JPG

I didn’t take a picture of this, but I usually use some oils on my face for my acne. Lastly, I moisturize my face with the Cetaphil daily facial moisturizer and brush my teeth. Many people rave about this moisturizer, but unfortunately I’m not a fan of it. It gets the job done most of the time, but lately my face has still been dry after using it.

Evening Routine #5.JPG

I don’t go on electronics before sleep, because it makes it much harder for me to fall asleep. Instead, I read my Bible, write in my gratitude journal, and cross off things in my planner. If I feel like it, I’ll write a schedule for tomorrow of the things I need to accomplish. This is my favorite part of the night! I can get all the thoughts out of my brain and spend some time talking to God. Evening Routine #1.JPGEvening Routine #2.JPG

After I’ve cleared the thoughts from my brain, it’s time to get comfy, relax, and destress. I light a candle, turn on my diffuser, and snuggle up with cozy blankets and read a book for an hour or so. Evening Routine #6.JPG

I fall asleep within minutes, and over a few years I’ve developed ways to help myself sleep easier. The best solution I’ve found is to turn on my small fan. (Yes, even in winter!). I can’t sleep without my fan on. I then snuggle under tons of blankets and the relaxing noise of the fan and the cold air hitting my face helps me to fall asleep.

If you’re interested, I would be happy to share my morning routine as well! Just let me know in the comments. Thank you for stopping by! Sweet dreams, and I hope you have a wonderful evening.

Lake Placid

IMG_9947.jpg

Ye be warned: this post has a ton of pictures. My family & I went to Lake Placid, NY a few days ago! It’s a large, adorable town in the Adirondacks a few hours away from where we live. Everybody in the town is super outdoorsy–from skating on the lake, snow shoeing, hiking, climbing the mountains, skiing, and hockey, everyone is involved. And those are just the winter activities. My family has actually been there a few times before, and our last trip there was so much fun.

IMG_9887.jpg

Oh, another thing before we get into it–we forgot to bring the camera to some of the activities, so we weren’t able to photograph most of the trip. When I did take pictures, I wasn’t focused on perfect photos, so don’t expect high-level photographer pictures, mmk?

IMG_9935.jpgIMG_9934.jpgIMG_9933.jpg

To have a good vacation, I strongly believe that you need to stay in a good hotel so that you’ll have a nice, clean place to come back to after a long fun-filled day. This hotel didn’t disappoint. We stayed in Hotel North Woods, a large, beautiful hotel on main street. It’s only a few minutes away from a Starbucks–a big bonus, huh? My sister and I walked there in the morning to get hot cocoa and tea.

IMG_9895.jpg

Another thing I love about Lake Placid? The main street! There are tons of shops–ice cream shops, fudge shops, Starbucks, Gap…even an olive oil shop. It’s common to see people with skates over their shoulders still wearing snow gear in the stores after skating on the lake.

IMG_9922.jpg

The town in general is really clean and everyone is so friendly. And the food is fantastic. 😉 We ordered pizza, got popcorn, ate ice cream…but we definitely got a workout in! We skated on the lake, went snowshoeing, walked the entire town, went sledding…99% of the time, we were outside.

IMG_9911.jpgIMG_9974.jpgIMG_9912 (1).jpg

The best part of the vacation was going on the tobaggon shoot–I was terrified but forced myself to think of it like a rollercoaster. It was worth it! If you ever have the opportunity to go on a tobaggon shoot, do it.

IMG_9949.jpgWhoa, you survived the long post! Long story short: go to Lake Placid. If you’ve ever been there, let me know, I’m curious. If you could go anywhere, where would you go? Thank you for reading!

15 Minute Workout + My Fitness Routine

Heyo, it’s Monday. And you know what that means–a new week, a fresh start, another new beginning before the next Monday and we start all over again.

I love working out. I hate it, too. There’s nothing better (and nothing worse) than sweat trickling down your neck and back, music blaring in your ears, breathing heavily…it’s exhausting. But it feels amazing when you finish! So, in today’s post, I’m going to be showing (technically, telling) you a quick workout that you can do & my fitness routine!

IMG_9636.jpg Here’s my schedule:

  • Monday: HIIT Run & Cardio
  • Tuesday: Skip (I’m gone all day Tuesday)
  • Wednesday: Run
  • Thursday: Run
  • Friday: Run or Walk (It depends on the day.)
  • Saturday: Yoga & Stretch
  • Sunday: Yoga

I’ve talked about Yoga With Adriene a lot (I swear, I should be Adriene’s spokesperson), but have you ever checked out Blogilates? Blogilates is a Youtube channel filled with fun, quick work-out videos. The amazing woman behind the channel, Cassey Ho, has such a fun personality. I try to do a few of her videos each week along with running and yoga.

IMG_9630 (7).jpg

Why do I workout? Because I love moving, I love the feeling of achievement and pride that I get when I take care of myself and run. Running makes me happy, working out lifts my spirits, it just feels good. By the way, if you workout, I would love to know why you do it. Let me know in the comments!

I have a workout that I usually do on my treadmill, but it can be done while running outdoors as well. I made a ‘lil graphic to show you!

Workout.jpg

I wish I could do a full hour run without stopping–I’m getting there! Slowly, very slowly, but surely. Since I don’t have a lot of time (usually about fifteen to twenty minutes), I do a few sets of quick sprinting and jogging to get my heart rate up. If I have more time, I’ll do a longer walk at the end to cool down my body–and, of course, I always make time for stretching.

IMG_9629 (1).jpg

I hope you enjoyed this. I have tons of motivational quotes on my Pinterest board if you feel like taking a peek. I would love to hear how you workout, feel free to share that if you’d like to. Thank you for reading!

Ice Skating & Winter Wonderland Photography

Ye be warned: this post has a ton of pictures. Well, wishes do come true, apparently! (Or is it dreams?) A few days ago, the pond froze over and we were able to go ice skating. The ice was like glass, it was so smooth and perfect. The sun was shining, it wasn’t too cold outside…it was a beautiful day.

Unknown-1.jpegIMG_9644.jpg

Charlie had fun too, apparently! He ran all around the pond barking at the neighbor’s dogs.

Unknown-3.jpeg

My eyes are a bit squinty–the sun was shining right in my eyes. Oops.

Unknown-2.jpeg

Today we got a ton of snow–it’s still snowing outside–and my fingers were itching to take some photos. My fingers were freezing, the wet snow was hitting my face…it was bliss. 😉 The fresh, crisp air felt amazing. I always feel so peaceful when I’m outside, especially when I’m in the woods behind our house.

Unknown-5.jpegUnknown-4.jpeg

These photos honestly don’t do justice to how beautiful it was!

Unknown-6.jpegUnknown-8.jpegUnknown-7.jpeg

I hope you enjoyed these photos! Thank you, as always, for reading! Have a great day y’all and be sure to grab some hot cocoa.

Q & A

Unknown.jpeg

The last post got such great questions, so I want to start this post by saying a big thank you to everyone that commented & gave me a question! A few people asked similar questions with different wording, so if you don’t see your question, it’s because a few were the same.  Let’s get into the post!

What is your favorite thing to blog about? If I’m being honest, I really like blogging about hair. I have a lot of posts on hair care, hairstyles, hair products, etc!

What are your goals for this blog? I want to gain more followers and add a lot more content. I want to start doing some more in-depth posts as well; I think my posts have been super short lately; so I would like to write longer posts.

Why do you like to blog? My answer is probably something many other bloggers will say, but it’s my creative outlet. I can let my personality show through the writing, I can inspire others, I can be myself. I love it.

Who inspires you? So many people! Sarah Nagel, Adriene Mishler, and my mother just to name a few.

Do you know what you would like to do when you’re older? You know what? I’m not sure. I would love to be a professional blogger, but I also want to be a yoga teacher. As they say, do what you love and the money will follow. I want to do something that will inspire other girls and women!

What is your favorite hair care product? Ooh la la, I love this question. Hands down, the OGX coconut oil hydrating mist. It has really helped make my hair silky and touchable; plus it’s super inexpensive!

What’s your favorite animal? A swan or a peacock! Both animals are so unique and beautiful

Do you like dessert? What kind? Of course! I’m not a cake or pie person, I really like ice cream & cookies. I’ve been loving coconut milk ice cream lately, because it’s dairy free and creamier than regular ice cream!

unnamed

What is the one food you can’t live without? Oh, gosh, this is hard. It’s a tie between sweet potatoes and dried mango strips.

When did you start blogging? When I was nine years old! (Feel like doing math, pal?)

Why did you start your blog? Most people have a really amazing reason for starting their blog. Unfortunately, I can’t remember mine. 😉 I’m pretty sure I started my blog because why not. (Kidding, kidding.) I think it was because I wanted to share some of my designs. Eventually, though, I found myself loving blogging–I would post a few times every day, just because it was so much fun.

What are your favorite bands/singers? I love TOP, Imagine Dragons, Alessia Cara, Liza Anne, Svrcina…I love pop music also; but not particular singers.

What is your dream job? I don’t have one…I think it would be amazing to be a professional blogger & make money from it, though!

What is the hardest thing about blogging? Y’all, blogging is hard in general. It’s so much fun and it’s really rewarding, but it’s hard to come up with posts, photograph things for the post, edit pics, write and edit the post, etc. For me, the hardest thing about blogging is making your content original. A question that every blogger needs to ask themself is, “what makes my blog different?”It’s hard sometimes to make sure my content and blog really reflects me.

Heyo, this post was fun to write. Thanks for asking the questions & being willing to read all this! Have a great day.

600 Followers & Ask Me Questions!

Unknown.jpegWell, well, well, would ‘ya look at that! I have 603 followers! I was on WordPress last night when I saw this and might have screamed, I can’t remember. 😉 (By the way, how was your Superbowl? Mine was pretty awesome.) Thank you so much for following my blog, it means the world to me and makes me so happy to see new followers. To all you new followers-welcome! Since there’s been a lot of new visitors lately, I think it would be great to do a Q & A post. A lot of bloggers do Q & A posts, so I guess I’m hopping on that bandwagon.

Just comment down below with some questions that you may have for me–it can be about my blog, my life, whatever strikes your fancy! Don’t hesitate to ask! I’ll answer all the questions in the next post, so stay tuned. Thank you for following & reading!
