OOTD | Denim Romper

Hello, & welcome back!

I haven’t done a fashion post in a while, but don’t worry, I’ll definitely start posting more fashion posts. A few days ago, the weather was perfect for photography, so we snapped some pictures that I think you’ll really enjoy!

Anyway, without further ado, let’s get into the post. If you are viewing this post from the wordpress reader, go to my website, the photos will be better quality. Thanks!

IMG_0348.jpg

I think we can all agree that rompers are amazing. They’re not only comfortable, but they look cute and effortless. I bought this romper from Old Navy last year, but it was a little too baggy for my taste. In fact, I felt really self conscious wearing it, so it hung in my closet, only to be taken out every now and then and looked at longingly.

I pulled it out of my closet a few days ago, and decided to just go for it and wear the darned romper. Life is too short to be self conscious.

IMG_0277.jpgIMG_0371.jpgIMG_0283 (1).jpg

Isn’t this bracelet so funky? I’m obsessed with it, it really adds personality to the outfit.

Image 3.jpg

I just had to take a picture by the peonies! Peonies are one of the prettiest flowers, if you ask me. Plus they smell absolutely amazing.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoyed the outfit & pictures. Have a fantastic day.

Do you own any rompers?

My Choker Collection & Review

Hello, welcome back!

I’m sorry I didn’t get a post up on Monday, but I try to stick to “Quality over Quantity”, and I felt that the post I was writing wasn’t very good, so I trashed it and decided not to do a post.

In today’s post, I’m going to be sharing with you my choker collection. Let’s get into the review!

IMG_2069.jpg

Chokers are perfect accessories that every girl should own. They add the extra touch to an outfit and can make your outfit look more put together! I’m a little late to the choker trend, but after a while looking at chokers on Pinterest, I hopped on the bandwagon and got my hands on a set of chokers.

I recently bought this set of 9 chokers from Amazon (not all of them are pictured in the photo), and I’m in love. I did my research and this set got amazing reviews, so I couldn’t pass it up. Plus it was only $7 for 9 chokers, which is pretty awesome.

IMG_2083.jpg

This choker is my favorite, because it’s simple, but really adds the extra element to an outfit!

You get a really good variety of chokers in the set, like a basic black choker, a tattoo choker, and a yin yang choker. But you also get some creative chokers, like a flower choker and a choker that comes with a necklace. (Pictured above)

IMG_2084.jpg

A few people were saying in the reviews that the clasps broke easily. Luckily, the clasps have worked perfectly for me, I haven’t had a problem with them so far. Fingers crossed, though, because these chokers do seem delicate.

I usually don’t like stuff to be on my neck, but so far so good, because the material that the chokers are made of is super smooth (a few are made out of velvet), and not itchy, which is a plus.

IMG_2085.jpg

| Pros |

  • Extremely inexpensive
  • The shipping is super fast
  • The set has a good variety of chokers
  • The chokers are lightweight and not at all itchy

| Cons |

  • The chokers aren’t extremely high quality or extremely well made, but they are inexpensive, so I wasn’t expecting them to be high quality. They aren’t low quality, though, which is good. They’re in-between. 😉
  • The chokers honestly feel delicate to me. Maybe that’s how chokers are supposed to be? Help me out, guys.

IMG_2081.jpgIMG_2094.jpg

All in all, I’m super happy with this choker set. If you’re looking for some cute chokers, these will work perfectly for you!

Well, that’s it for today, thanks for reading!Catch you on the flip side.

Do you own any chokers? What is your opinion of chokers?

A Day At The Clark

Art Gallery #1.JPGTGIF! I hope you’re having a great start to the weekend. I’m just popping in with a quick post. My family loves going to art galleries/museums, and one that we’ve really enjoy o a few times is called The Clark, in Massachusetts. Today my mother & sister & I took a trip there!

Art Gallery #5.JPGArt Gallery #2.JPG

Unfortunately, my camera battery died after about an hour or so, but I was still able to snap a few pictures.

Art Gallery #4.JPGArt Gallery #3.JPG

We grabbed lunch in the cafe. It was delicious–I got a panini with pesto and chicken, along with a side salad. I had to ask them to take out mozzarella, because I’m going dairy free–for a moment, I considered leaving the cheese in any way, but I reminded myself of my goal.

Art Gallery #6.JPG

If you’re ever in Williamstown, Massachusetts, I recommend checking it out! It’s a huge, gorgeous gallery in general, and there’s tons to do, we spent the whole day there and never got bored.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a fantastic weekend. Look for a post from me soon! ❤

Blogger Recognition Award

img_6285.jpg

I would like to give a big thank you to Ivana for nominating me for the Blogger Recognition Award, I’m so honored! ❤ Let’s get right into it, shall we?

-Rules-

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

2. Write a post to show your award.

3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.

4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

5. Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.

I started my blog in 2013, and I remember sitting in my dining room coming up with different names for my blog. My mom suggested, “How about the freckled fashionista?” My freckles have mostly faded away, but the name still sticks, and I love it. At first, I posted about all sorts of random things, but over the past few years as I’ve gotten older, my blog has shaped into something I’m super proud of, and it continues to grow every day.  I now post about all sorts of things that interest me, from sewing and fashion, to lifestyle, beauty, and more.

My first piece of advice to new bloggers would be to stay true to yourself! Find what sets you apart from other blogs, because that’s what will make people follow your blog and come back to it. My second piece of advice would be to just keep posting, no matter what. Don’t give up. The more you post, the more your blog is “out there”. Eventually, all your hard work will pay off!

Here are the bloggers that I’m nominating! It was hard, because I love so many different blogs.

#stitchingsanta2016–What I Received

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas! I’m posting this late, but it was so much fun participating in #stitchingsanta2016. If you would like to see the gifts that I gave, check out this link! My package unfortunately came a bit late, so I wasn’t able to open it on Christmas, but I adore everything that I received.

Look at these goodies!

img_1902

The lady that had me, Mel, clearly knows me well. The theme of this was quilting–she saw on my blog that I want to learn how to quilt. She included all this gorgeous fabric for a quilt!

IMG_1900.JPG

She also got a quilt block for me to use. I don’t have one of these, so this is perfect! Thank you!

IMG_1895.JPG

There are a few magazines and quilting books–these look so interesting. I can’t wait to sit down and read them all! Mel marked a pattern in one of the magazines that she thought would be a great beginner pattern. I’m excited to try it out!

IMG_1897.JPG

Lastly, she sewed this beautiful zippered pouch. It’s so well made, I love it!

IMG_1896.JPG

Mel, thank you so very much for all of my presents. I truly love everything. I hope you all have a fantastic New Year, and look for a post from me soon!

My Five Go-to Fall Hairstyles

My five go to fall hairstyles.png

Autumn is upon us, and it’s my favorite season! With fall comes apple picking, crisp air and leaf raking, and boots & infinity scarfs. In today’s post, I’m going to be sharing with you my five go-to fall hairstyles. Let’s begin!

#1 Dutch Braid

Dutch Braid #2.jpegdutch-braid-3Dutch Braid #1.jpeg

A dutch braid is similar to a french braid, but it has more volume. I love dutch braids, and I personally prefer them to french braids. Whenever I want to get my hair out of my face on a windy fall day, I will put it in either a french or a dutch braid. Both styles are protective hairstyles and look perfect with any outfit!

#2 Fishtail

Fishtail #1.jpegFishtail #2.jpegFishtail #3.jpeg

The fishtail braid is a well known hair style, but I wanted to include it anyway because fishtails are such an easy style and there are so many different ways that you can do your hair in a fishtail. I love fishtails because they are stylish, but (like I said about the dutch braid) they keep my hair out of my face.

#3 Half Up Bun

Half up .jpeg

This is my favorite hairstyle that I’m sharing with you! It’s effortless and only took me one minute to do. It’s just a half up bun–like the other styles, it is very simple. But honestly, sometimes simple is a good thing! With many of my outfits in the fall, I’ll wear a few layers, an infinity scarf, and jewelry. So, I don’t want to go too overboard with my hair, which is why a cute yet basic hairstyle is ideal.

#4 Ponytail With A Twist

ponytail-2ponytail-3

Ponytails are a classic, right? You can do so much with ponytails. High ponytails, low ponytails, side ponytails, loose ponytails, tight and sleek ponytails…the options are never ending. Half of the week I’ll put my hair in a ponytail, and every time I’ll switch it up. My favorite version of a ponytail is to add a few braids into the ponytail. From the front, it looks like a normal ponytail, but no. Never judge a ponytail by its appearance from the front.

#5 Bun

bun-2bun-1

‘Cause you can never, ever go wrong with a good ol’ bun. This bun is almost as large as my head…There’s nothing like a bun to create a statement! I have very thick hair, and so when I normally put my hair in a bun, it will just fall out and I will keep having to re-do it. So thank heavens for bun donuts! They are a life saver.

Thank you for reading, and I really hope that you enjoyed this post! Lately I haven’t been sure what to write posts about, so if you have any posts that you would like to read on my blog, let me know in the comments!

Unposted Sewing Projects

Hello!

There are always those little sewing makes that never get posted…well, in today’s post, I’m going to be giving four small sewing makes the spotlight!

Unknown-6.jpeg

First, we have this gorgeous zippered pouch. I always love a good zippered pouch, and I constantly need them for makeup, brushes, pencils, etc. I was super careful when I sewed in the zipper, because I wanted it to be as perfect as possible, and I’m proud with the way that it turned out.

My family keeps asking about the stitches at the bottom–yes, they were intentional, I sewed them because I thought it might look nice, but I’m regretting doing that.

unknown-7

The lining turned out very well also, so I’m happy with this pouch, and I’ve already used it a lot!

Unknown-1.jpegUnknown-2.jpeg

This is supposed to be a knit fabric headband. I’m on a cross country team, and hair always comes out of my ponytail and hangs over my eyes. I decided one day that I needed to practice my hand-sewing skills, so I cut a two long rectangles of knit fabric and attempted to sew a fabric headband. My messy stitches don’t show at least, so overall I’m pleased with the result. This will get a lot of use.

IMG_1070.jpg

You’re probably wondering what this could possibly be. Well….I’m actually not sure, but whatever it is, it’s pretty darn useful! I’ve had this upholstery fabric in my stash for awhile and was planning on making another zippered pouch. In June, we went to Cape Cod, and I needed something to store my beauty products. I thought a drawstring bag would be perfect, but I accidentally sewed the part where the string goes shut. Oops.

Unknown.jpeg

I finished sewing it nonetheless and ended up with a rectangle of fabric. A snap would have made this rectangle useful, but I didn’t have any snaps. What about velcro? I couldn’t find the velcro. So, I took it on vacation anyways and just folded the bag/pouch/rectangle/thing over, and it worked out ok! The fabric is really cute and holds up even when I pile it with stuff. I just found my velcro yesterday, so I’m probably going to sew on some velcro so that it closes.

Unknown-4.jpeg

My last little project was really fun to sew. It’s a mood board! I sewed it up within 20 minutes and printed out a few emojis. This is a great idea for a present, or for something to make for your bedroom. I actually got the idea for this online, but in the video that I watched, they used hot glue instead, so there are different options.Unknown-5.jpeg

That’s all for today! Thank you for reading, and let me know which project was your favorite in the comments. Have an amazing day.

Guest Post from the TweenInBetween

Write Me A Guest Post!

Why hello there! Recently I made a post on writing a guest post for the freckledfashionista. I have some great bloggers lined up to share their post on my blog. The first guest post is from the Tween in Between. Enjoy her guest post, and don’t forget to comment and let her know what you think of it!

Hi! I’m Tweeninbetween, the author of the blog Tween in Between! I’m super excited to be doing a guest post here on Freckled Fashionista!

School is starting really soon!!! (Those can be exclamation points of excitement, or of tragedy, depending on what kind of mood you’re in!)

Because school is just around the corner, I wanted to share with you five different back-to-school outfit ideas, complete with sketches! I’ve been sketching and sewing for about three years, and since we’re all so excited to go back to school (NOT!), I thought this was the perfect thing!

The first one is The Rebel’s School Uniform.

unnamed

I really love this one! I think it’s just super cute and fun! I like the boots just because…well, they’re boots! Who needs another reason??? The shirt is probably my favorite part, because it ties the whole outfit together and is definitely the statement piece of this sketch. I like how this outfit could be worn at any time of the year, because, like I said, it’s so cute, but it gives off just enough ‘school’ vibe that it makes the perfect back-to-school outfit!

The Preppy (But Still Stylish) A+ Student

unnamed-1.jpg

This outfit is (as the name suggests) pretty preppy, but it’s still very stylish! I like the way the pink looks with the blue jeans! Of course, the shirt has a collar, and the model is wearing capris and black flats – the outfit has to live up to its name! However, I think this one does a great job of being preppy without being childish! In the back to school category, it gets an A+++ in my book!

“I Wish it Was Still Summer!”

unnamed-2

I think this one just might be my absolute personal favorite! I love, love, love the boho-beach-chic vibe it gives off, and it’s definitely clear the wearer does not want summer to end! (Hmmmm…maybe that’s why I like it so much. I don’t want summer to end either!) I really like how all the colors go together! This outfit is so versatile, too! The sandals are super cute, and so is the skirt! You could wear it to the beach or to a restaurant! In my opinion, that makes it an ideal school outfit!

Nerd Chic

unnamed-3

Ooh, this is another good one! I just think it’s sooooooo stylish and absolutely adorable! The sweater, pleated schoolgirl skirt, and messy bun bring the ‘nerd’ element, and the fishnet tights and boots add just the right amount of pizazz! This outfit just has everything! Cute boots? Check! Adorable skirt? Check! Girly sweater? Check! Just-the-right-amount-of-messy hair? Check! I would definitely wear this to school!

“I Woke Up Like This.”

unnamed-4.jpg

Guys, let’s be honest! We all wish we could wake up like that! This is another one of my favorites, simply because it’s got the perfect amount of looking like a nonchalant, thrown-together outfit. But it’s not so shabby-chic it couldn’t be worn to school! Now let’s break it down: I absolutely adore all the parts of the outfit! I love the off-the shoulder sweater, the ripped jeans, the comfy-looking UGGs, and especially the hair! (Messy bun half-up updo? Yes, please!) All in all, this is, in my opinion, a fabulous back-to-school outfit!

That’s it! Thanks for reading, and of course, an enormous thank you to Abigail for letting me post here today! I had fun, how about you? 🙂 Comment which outfit was your favorite!

And there you have it! Thank you! Be sure to check out Tween in Between’s blog. It’s not too late to write a guest post for the freckledfashionista! Apply here.

Girl Charlee Fabric Sundress

Bonjour!  I’m so excited about today’s post. Girl Charlee Fabrics offered me a couple of yards of their fabric in exchange for a review, and I accepted! If you’ve heard of them or purchased their fabric, you’ll know that their selection is incredible. I spent a while just scrolling through the fun prints, but eventually decided on a beautiful feather fabric.

9.JPG

In the summer, I always need something quick to throw on for a day to the beach, so I decided a sundress would be perfect for my review.

5.jpg

I love their fabric! It has the perfect stretch–not too stretchy but with a great recovery. It doesn’t roll up like some knit fabrics that I’ve used in the past, and it couldn’t be more of a dream to sew!  I love it, my family loves it, and of course my machine loves it too. The fabric didn’t bunch, the stitches turned out straight, and it took a couple of hours to whip up. And it’s so soft!

Charlie approves too. 🙂

6.jpg

That little stinker! He photobombed me!

Fun fact: it was a cloudy day when we took the photos. Darn! Luckily, with the help of some brighteners, the photos turned out ok. New York isn’t very scenic in early spring, but we tried! Of course, the moment we got inside, the sun came out.

4.jpg

I wish that I made the sundress a little bit longer, but since I’ll probably wear it over my swimsuit or just lounging around, it’s not really a big deal. I just can’t stop staring at this fabric. It has a care free almost bohemian look to it, with the fun colors and the feathers going every which way.

10.jpg2.jpg

I suppose that’s all for today! Thank you so much, Girl Charlee! If you like this fabric, buy it here, or get their other amazing fabric here as well. Stay tuned for the next post–my first natural beauty post! Bye!

Post Swap! With the Scatter Brained Seamstress

Hello, everyone! Today Kate and I swapped posts. She has a post for all of you, and you can find my post over at her blog here. Without further ado, let me give the spotlight to Kate!

Hello, fashionistas! I’m so excited to be here at Abi’s blog, Freckled Fashionista!!! If you don’t know me, I’m Kate from Scatterbrained Seamstress!

I got my first sewing machine almost two years ago to date (minus a month or two), and have been sewing since about a year ago. I love everything about sewing in general and hope to grow my talent as I grow older!

My life has been a bit hectic recently with school, finals, and my baby sister who fractured her arm and had to have surgery. Thankfully I’ve still had time for some sewing!

I sewed Robert Kaufman’s Trail Tote. unnamed.jpgThe second I saw the picture I knew fabricworm’s vast amount of adorable fabrics would fit this bag perfectly! So right when the fabric arrived I sewed it up as fast as I could!

90% of this bag went super duper smoothly. The darts, cutting it out, the strap. Everything until the last few steps. There was supposed to be piping, but I accidentally sewed it to the wrong side of the fabric so it ended up on the inside of the bag. Sewing it all up was hard too, and so was hemming the top.

unnamed-1

My favorite aspect definitely has to be the extendable strap and the front pocket. It fits my Eos, a pack of tissues, my phone, and a pack of gum perfectly.

unnamed-2
It also features a magnetic snap and an inside pocket. Isn’t this lining fabric adorable?!

unnamed-3
I also sewed a coordinating bi-fold wallet. This tutorial was perfect, clear, and super easy! I love how the wallet turned out.

unnamed-4.jpg
It features a magnetic snap, six card holder spots, and coin and dollar bill storage. The lining (the lovely grey fabric) was not supposed to show, but I rather love the strip of contrast along the top.

unnamed-5
It fits perfectly in the inside pocket and looks quite snazzy, if I do say so myself :D.

Now for some action shots:

unnamed-6.jpg
….petting some purple flowers….

unnamed-7.jpg
….hugging a tree…..

unnamed-8.jpg
….and holding the bag awkwardly.

I’ve definitely enjoyed my time here!
